Since I’ve been so utterly and completely lazy while living the good life in South Africa, my detailed journaling has been sporadic to non-existent. I am heading north to Namibia next week, but before I depart I leave you with a an abbreviated journal - not a specific set of details, but a recollection of wonderful memories and a picture or two to fill in the missing thousand words apiece.

My “Dumb and Dumber” ride from Knysna to Cape Town -

Since British Airways lost my bags temporarily, I had no protective jacket - great for when the sun is out. Now imagine what I looked like after the temperature dropped 30 degrees at night in the mountains:

Sunset hike on Lion’s Head -
Incredible people, incredible scenery - just perfect.
On top of the world

Surfing in Muizenberg -

swallowing at least a gallon of seawater at high tide.

Camping in Langebaan -
Langebaan Campsite

Specifically, when Lise deciding that heeding nature’s call at night after a few bottles of wine meant falling completely into a tide pool.

Rugby Games @ Newlands -

Great people, great matches.

IMGP1445

Dog Walking on the Beach -

Big part of the reason why Cape Town is such a paradise

Hout Bay & Dog

Incredible history and painful legacies -

The Apartheid Museum and the Hector Pietersen Museum are absolutely world-class

Hector Pietersen Memorial - with the famous shot in the background
